Book Exhibition and a Special Lecture

 

An exhibition of the books published by the Publication Bureau of Punjabi University, Patiala was inaugurated by Prof. (Dr.) Sarabjinder Singh, Chairman, Guru Granth Sahib Studies Department and Bhai Gurdas Chair and Director, Publication Bureau and Press, Punjabi University, Patiala and Dr. Khushvinder Kumar, Principal of the College. The students and members of the staff purchased books of their choice and availed 50% concession on the purchase of books.

On this occasion, Dr. Sarabjinder Singh delivered a lecture on “Life, Philosophy and Literature”. He said that our generation is fortunate to have the treasure of books and the ability to read and understand them. The accumulated knowledge and wisdom of our forefathers reaches to the next generation through books. These days, we are producing robot like human beings, devoid of emotions and sensibilities and Television and social media are encouraging negative trends in the society. Illiteracy and poverty are the other hindrances in the development of the society. In such a situation, good books and literature can play crucial role. He stressed upon the students to inculcate higher values of life by reading good books. The guest speaker also answered the questions asked by the students.

Dr. Khushvinder Kumar, Principal of the College welcomed the guest speaker and asked the students to maintain personal library at their homes. He also told that literature directed and lead by our philosophy resolves various problems of social life. If we want to create a civilized and plural society, then we will have to accept and respect diverse social identities in the light of our rich philosophical traditions. Dr. Sarabjinder Singh was felicitated by the college administration on this occasion. Dr. Gurdeep Singh, Head, Dept. of Punjabi conducted the stage and introduced the guest speaker. Dr. Manjit Kaur presented the vote of thanks. On this occasion, Dr. Ajit Kumar, Registrar, Prof. Ganesh Kumar, Dy. Registrar, Dr. Veerpal Kaur, Dr. Davinder Singh and other staff members of Punjabi department and a large number of students were also present.

 

 

ਸਥਾਨਕ ਮੁਲਤਾਨੀ ਮੱਲ ਮੋਦੀ ਕਾਲਜ ਦੇ ਪੋਸਟ-ਗ੍ਰੇਜੂਏਟ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਵੱਲੋਂ “ਜੀਵਨ ਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਅਤੇ ਸਾਹਿਤ” ਵਿਸ਼ੇ ਤੇ ਇਕ ਵਿਸ਼ੇਸ਼ ਭਾਸਣ ਆਯੋਜਿਤ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ। ਇਸ ਅਵਸਰ ਤੇ ਪ੍ਰੋ. (ਡਾ.) ਸਰਬਜਿੰਦਰ ਸਿੰਘ, ਚੇਅਰਮੈਨ, ਗੁਰੂ ਗ੍ਰੰਥ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਸਟੱਡੀਜ਼ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਅਤੇ ਭਾਈ ਗੁਰਦਾਸ ਚੇਅਰ, ਅਤੇ ਡਾਇਰੈਕਟਰ ਪਬਲੀਕੇਸ਼ਨ ਬਿਊਰੋ ਅਤੇ ਪ੍ਰੈਸ, ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਯੂਨੀਵਰਸਿਟੀ, ਪਟਿਆਲਾ ਨੇ ਮੁੱਖ ਵਕਤਾ ਵਜੋਂ ਬੋਲਦਿਆਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਪੁਸਤਕਾਂ ਪੜ੍ਹਨ ਦੀ ਤਮੰਨਾ ਜੀਊਂਦੇੱਜਾਗਦੇ ਇਨਸਾਨ ਦੀ ਨਿਸ਼ਾਨੀ ਹੈ। ਮੌਜੂਦਾ ਪੀੜੀ ਇਸ ਗੱਲੋਂ ਖੁਸ਼ਕਿਸਮਤ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਉਸ ਕੋਲ ਪੜ੍ਹਨ ਲਈ ਪੁਸਤਕਾਂ ਦਾ ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਪੜ੍ਹਨੱਸਮਝਣ ਦੀ ਸਮਰੱਥਾ ਵੀ ਹੈ। ਪੁਸਤਕਾਂ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਪੁਰਖਿਆਂ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਸੰਚਿਤ ਗਿਆਨ ਅਤੇ ਅਨੁਭਵ ਅਗਲੀ ਪੀੜੀ ਤੱਕ ਪਹੁੰਚਦਾ ਹੈ। ਵਿਦਵਾਨ ਵਕਤਾ ਨੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਵਿਦਿਆ ਨੂੰ ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਡਿਗਰੀਆਂ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤੀ ਤੱਕ ਸੀਮਿਤ ਨਾ ਰੱਖਦਿਆਂ ਹੋਇਆਂ ਗਿਆਨ ਅਤੇ ਵਿਦਵਤਾ ਹਾਸਲ ਕਰਨ ਦਾ ਵਸੀਲਾ ਬਣਾਉਣ ਲਈ ਪ੍ਰੇਰਿਆ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਆਸ਼ਾਵਾਦੀ ਨਜ਼ਰੀਆ ਗ੍ਰਹਿਣ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਜਾਂਚ ਸਿੱਖਣ ਦੇ ਗੁਰ ਵੀ ਸਮਝਾਏ। ਇਸ ਮੌਕੇ ਵਿਦਵਾਨ ਵਕਤਾ ਨੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਉਤਸੁਕਤਾ ਭਰਪੂਰ ਪੁੱਛੇ ਗਏ ਸਵਾਲਾਂ ਦਾ ਤਸੱਲੀਬਖ਼ਸ਼ ਜਵਾਬ ਦਿੱਤਾ।

ਕਾਲਜ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਿੰਸੀਪਲ ਡਾ. ਖੁਸ਼ਵਿੰਦਰ ਕੁਮਾਰ ਜੀ ਨੇ ਮਹਿਮਾਨ ਵਕਤਾ ਦਾ ਸਵਾਗਤ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਸੰਸਾਰ ਦੇ ਵਿਗਿਆਨੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਖੋਜ ਕਾਰਜ ਅਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਪੁਸਤਕ ਪੜ੍ਹਨ ਦੀ ਰੁਚੀ ਦਾ ਜ਼ਿਕਰ ਕੀਤਾ ਅਤੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਅਪੀਲ ਕੀਤੀ ਕਿ ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਘਰਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਨਿਜੀ ਲਾਇਬ੍ਰੇਰੀ ਜ਼ਰੂਰ ਬਣਾਉਣ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਇਹ ਵੀ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਸਾਹਿਤ ਜੀਵਨ ਦੀਆਂ ਵਿਭਿੰਨ ਸਮੱਸਿਆਵਾਂ ਦੀ ਪੇਸ਼ਕਾਰੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਦਿਸ਼ਾ ਅਤੇ ਅਗੁਵਾਈ ਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਅਸੀਂ ਵਿਭਿੰਨ ਸਮਾਜਿਕ ਪਛਾਣਾ ਦੀ ਦੌੜ ਤੋਂ ਅਗਾਂਹ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਦੀ ਲੋਅ ਵਿੱਚ ਇਨਸਾਨੀ ਗੁਣਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਨਿਖਾਰ ਕੇ ਹੀ ਸਾਂਝੇੱਸੁਚੱਜੇ ਅਤੇ ਸਭਿਅਕ ਸਮਾਜ ਦੀ ਸਿਰਜਨਾ ਕਰ ਸਕਦੇ ਹਾਂ।

ਇਸ ਅਵਸਰ ਤੇ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਯੂਨੀਵਰਸਿਟੀ ਦੇ ਪਬਲੀਕੇਸ਼ਨ ਬਿਉਰੋ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਸ਼ਿਤ ਪੁਸਤਕਾਂ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰਦਰਸ਼ਨੀ ਦਾ ਆਯੋਜਨ ਵੀ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਉਦਘਾਟਨ ਪ੍ਰਿੰਸੀਪਲ ਡਾ. ਖੁਸ਼ਵਿੰਦਰ ਕੁਮਾਰ ਅਤੇ ਡਾ. ਸਰਬਜਿੰਦਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਜੀ ਨੇ ਸਾਂਝੇ ਰੂਪ ਵਿੱਚ ਕੀਤਾ। ਕਾਲਜ ਦੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਸਟਾਫ਼ ਮੈਂਬਰਾਂ ਨੇ ਇਸ ਪੁਸਤਕ ਪ੍ਰਦਰਸ਼ਨੀ ਵਿਚ ਦਿਲਚਸਪੀ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਮੰਨਪਸੰਦ ਪੁਸਤਕਾਂ ਖਰੀਦੀਆਂ। ਯੂਨੀਵਰਸਿਟੀ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਪੁਸਤਕਾਂ ਉਪਰ 50 ਪ੍ਰਤੀਸ਼ਤ ਦੀ ਛੋਟ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਗਈ। ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਦੇ ਮੁਖੀ ਡਾ. ਗੁਰਦੀਪ ਸਿੰਘ ਨੇ ਮੰਚ ਸੰਚਾਲਣ ਦਾ ਕਾਰਜ ਨਿਭਾਇਆ ਅਤੇ ਨਾਲ ਹੀ ਵਿਦਵਾਨ ਵਕਤਾ ਡਾ. ਸਰਬਜਿੰਦਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਦੇ ਅਕਾਦਮਿਕ ਅਤੇ ਸਾਹਿਤਕ ਕਾਰਜ ਬਾਰੇ ਸਰੋਤਿਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਜਾਣਕਾਰੀ ਸਾਂਝੀ ਕੀਤੀ। ਕਾਲਜ ਪ੍ਰਿੰਸੀਪਲ ਅਤੇ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਮੁੱਖ ਵਕਤਾ ਨੂੰ ਯਾਦ-ਚਿੰਨ੍ਹ ਦੇ ਕੇ ਸਨਮਾਣਿਤ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ। ਡਾ. ਮਨਜੀਤ ਕੌਰ ਨੇ ਧੰਨਵਾਦ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਕਹੇ। ਇਸ ਅਵਸਰ ਤੇ ਕਾਲਜ ਦੇ ਰਜਿਸਟਰਾਰ ਡਾ. ਅਜੀਤ ਕੁਮਾਰ, ਡਿਪਟੀ ਰਜਿਸਟਰਾਰ ਡਾ. ਗਣੇਸ਼ ਕੁਮਾਰ, ਡਾ. ਵੀਰਪਾਲ ਕੌਰ, ਡਾ. ਦਵਿੰਦਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਅਤੇ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਵਿਭਾਗ ਦੇ ਸਮੂਹ ਅਧਿਆਪਕ ਅਤੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀ ਵੱਡੀ ਗਿਣਤੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਹਾਜ਼ਰ ਸਨ।
